OK, where in the hell do u begin when you are trying to explain massive sensory overload? The Sights - One of the most incredible front men in music today: Cedric Bixler-Zavala, a new drummer & child prodigy Thomas Pridgen, the keyboard player, Isaiah Ikey Owens, that would only sit down so that he could LEAP up again, or, the old favorite, guitar virtuoso Omar Rodriguez-Lopez... HOLY SMOKES! Aaaannnnnnd, then there's the SOUND - volume, pitch, clarity, distortion, depth, width... It's a free buffet of creativity...
Let's be clear, The Mars aren't gonna be for everyone... If ure STRICTLY a 4/4 head nodder , this will frustrate u and u will hate it(TMV's time signatures change like Hillary's campaign promises)... BUT, if u like to mix it up
- a little classic rock, a pinch of Latin vibes, some acid jazz, a taste of progressive rock and some hallucinogens - then ure STRAIGHT!
These guys took the stage @ 8pm sharp and rocked until after I had to leave, which was after 10 o clock! - who knows, they could have played a few more hours, these brothers get lost in the music...
Anyway, I say tht to say this, The Mars Volta have new LP droppin' January 29th entitled 'The Bedlam in Goliath' and judging from last night's show u should check it out...
