Last Thurs, Todd invited me to preview he and Steve Powers "Street Market" show in downtown BKLYN before it's opening on 9/19. It is fantastic. A large amount of their peices are from the LA MOCA "Art in the Streets" show and some are new. I enjoyed getting in while they were still tackling the details. Thanks guys!

REST iN POWER: Riverdale Studios, BX

This AM, the homeboy EMZ let me know that he was letting go of Riverdale Studios after 14 years of hosting the most... That's my boy, and we have had MANY classic sessions and general hangs up there in that rock-cave-tree-house that was Riverdale Studios (THEY GOT HiLLS iN RiVERDALE!).
Thinking back, I imported my favorite Ornette Coleman albums from the VAST compact disc collection, regularly marveled at the more than impressive collection of footwear, discussed many a MC over a cold beverage, created ALBUMS worth of songs & even got pulled over out front w/ ALL KiNDS OF BAD NEWS in the car only to be miraculously let free without incident (WORD TO V.O.R. - Dok weren't you in the car too?).
PEACE TO EMZ AND RiVERDALE STUDiOS AND THANK YOU FOR BEiNG A PLACE i COULD BE CHiLL& BE CREATiVE.

Saturday night, LEE Quinones , opened his Mom's apt, the apt he grew up in the Smith Houses, to a few friends and colleagues to view selected works from 1975 - '85. Lee would have been 15 - 25 years old durring this period. It was very ill to stand in his former bedroom and stare out of the window to see his nightly inspiration - the BK Bridge, FDR, South St. Seaport, etc... BiG UP MARC LABELLE FOR THE HOOK UP!
