This AM, the homeboy EMZ let me know that he was letting go of Riverdale Studios after 14 years of hosting the most... That's my boy, and we have had MANY classic sessions and general hangs up there in that rock-cave-tree-house that was Riverdale Studios (THEY GOT HiLLS iN RiVERDALE!).
Thinking back, I imported my favorite Ornette Coleman albums from the VAST compact disc collection, regularly marveled at the more than impressive collection of footwear, discussed many a MC over a cold beverage, created ALBUMS worth of songs & even got pulled over out front w/ ALL KiNDS OF BAD NEWS in the car only to be miraculously let free without incident (WORD TO V.O.R. - Dok weren't you in the car too?).
PEACE TO EMZ AND RiVERDALE STUDiOS AND THANK YOU FOR BEiNG A PLACE i COULD BE CHiLL& BE CREATiVE.

FRiDAY NiGHT iN THE CiTY.

WOWSERS... I've been traveling a lot lately. When I'm not out of town, I'm hosting others in NYC... I wouldn't have changed a thing, but I was really stoked to have this wkend to myself...
So, last night, I stopped by Ryan McGuinness's studio for party #??? of his '50PARTY' series... The theme was 'Artist-direct auction', meaning no dealer/ middleman involved to drive the price up... The email read "The artist is the seller, and there is no auction house that will be taking a cut of the sale. Our host and auctioneer: Sara Friedlander from Christie's Post-War and Contemporary Department."

I imagined how liberating it must be for the artist to sell direct. I bet they get that good rush/ buzz of cheating the system...

I ran into Aron @ Sue Kwon's book release party last night. His gallery, OHWOW , is creating a Pop-Up-Max-Fish for Art Basel 2009 in commemoration of The Fish turning 20. Downtown NYC in Miami Beach, go figure. Either way, it's a really fun idea and i'd stop bye if I were you...
